Day 2.

As I walked to work this morning, I was intrigued and amused at the mix of aromas walking to work. First it was the smell of fresh bread on a bakery on Zeedijk and then weed from a coffeeshop on the Ouderzijds Achterburgwal. Only in Amsterdam can these two extremes coexist within a few meters :-).

Today we worked mostly on the wedding dress. We finished painting all 6 meters of the fabric with the chemicals for the devore and tomorrow I'll be ironing it to burn off the natural fibers. As we were waiting for the chemicals to dry so we could start on the next section, Edwin showed me The Coffee Company. I had been talking about Starbucks and confessing my addiction so he figured maybe I would like this place. He hates anything in his coffee but I need my coffee not to taste like coffee. I thought the orders looked pretty similar but my white mocha latte tasted just like coffee so it looks like I need to start going by Central Station to get my Starbucks. We also checked out the new place Edwin is trying to rent in the fall. It's also an old prostitute chamber (I don't know what to call those things so I'm going with 'chamber') that is being renovated and will hopefully become a store/workroom/living space for Edwin. The old curtains were still hanging so when we were peaking into the empty space and Edwin was explaining to me the changes he wants to make, people were commenting things like "Oh my God, what are they peering at" and we got some very confused and slightly disgusted looks. Oh well, at least we made their day more interesting :-).

When I was walking back to Central Station, I took some pictures of other windows part of Red Light Fashion and I saw the most adorable bike ever.

My dream bike.

When I came home, there was a nice warm home-made meal waiting for me. My grandparents rock.
