Pictures from the show!!!

I didn't do much at work except a display and hang out so I'll get to the point.

Here are pictures and a mini video of the show!!!

Printed velvet.

I made both of those with help on the details from Gerbrechje and Elise.

Same goes for this jacket. It's a shiny polyester and a mesh over one another which is
why it has that weird/cool shine.

"Elise's dress." SHe worked forever on it.

One of the tops Edwin decided should be made 2 days before the show. I helped on the skirt.
How cute is the leather bag?!? All the bags are leather and were made for the collection.
The belts too.

This picture doesn't do this jacket justice. It's awesome.

"Ka Ho''s dress."

"Sam's Dress." Not the shrug though, I didn't make that. The 1st dress of the collection,
the corset dress I made, is under this. Gerbrechje spent 3 weeks on the beading for the shoulders!!!
Dedication/awesomeness.
Better view of this version I made.
Everyone worked on the cape. Elise, Gerbrechje and Ka Ho did most
of the applique and I just sewed the pieces together and Edwin and Elise
finished the details. This is one of my favorites.

Elise's dress again.
And a short video. It doesn't show all the sets but you get an idea...AND YOU CAN SEE "MY" SHOES IN ACTION (they're not really mine but I was there during every step). Thanks again uncle Richard for the deer lags! The result is amazing :-) No really. If he can find 2 more legs, I'm making myself a pair.

I will post more once I get the other pictures, They have to be edited first. My portfolio/resume, unlike my wallet, definitely got a boost from this internship!

Here is some aftermath of the show.

The model headquarters downstairs.

Gerbrechje made a cake because it was her last day. How adorable!

Hanging out :-)

A day's work.

I was at Neuschwanstein castle but I'm back in Purmerend now. We went from Germany, to Austria to France and to Switserland on our drive back to Nunningen (by Basel). Then I had a layover in Paris so I did get to visit there after all. Then I was in Amsterdam and now back at my grandparent's. Not bad for a day's work.

Basically, my weekend with my aunt and uncle was awesome and I don't regret for a second giving it up for the show. It was so beautiful at the castle and I enjoyed myself so much that instead of crossing it completely off my list, I've decided I need to go back with George during the WINTER and go skiing and see both castles (there is one across from Neuschwanstein castle) and have a super cheesy romantic getaway in the Alps. It will be, to quote my friend Barney Stinson, legen-I hope you're not lactose intolerant because the next word is-DARY.

Yeah, my aunt and uncle rock and I'm so glad I got to do this with them. THANK YOU!!!

I had a layover on the way back in Paris and they had these cookie things that cost a small fortune but were selling like hotcakes so I tried one. I didn't like this flavor but I could tell it was made really well and when I'm rich, George and I will go to Paris and try them all :-)

Bonsoir.

Sneak Peak.

Okay, I'm really tired but I'll give you a quick update.

The show friday went well apparently and here are some behind the scenes shots I took before I left that evening.

Fitting for the dresses Ger and I made for Zazi. This is Margriet, one of the 3 members.

The atelier was converted into model headquarters.

Lotte (left) doing a fitting with one of the models.

The location/Edwin's new atelier in construction.
Thank you Ka Ho for sending me this! This is a picture form the show. The dress underneath the shrug thing was the corset dress I made. The first garment of the collection. And you can't see it but she's wearing the deer shoes :-)

I'll update more on that later.

As for today, we saw Neuschwanstein castle and it was beautiful!!! It totally makes up for missing the show. I would never want to miss this. Here's a peak at why:

More later. Welterusten.

Almost there.

I was at work till 22:10 today so I'm going to keep this short. Edwin decided it would be a good idea to add 2 little tang tops to the collection out of really annoying silky fabric. I worked on those and put Swarovski's on the dresses for the girl of Zazi with Gerbrechje. I also finished the shoes. When the deer skin dried, it shrunk so some spots had gotten ugly. The shoes rock and I can't wait till we get all the pictures from the whole collection so I can show you all! I have decided that next week will be my last week instead of the week after that. Anyone in Limburg reading this, I will be coming to visit next Sunday and Monday. This time for the last time :-( It's going so fast now make it stop! I do get to look forward to finally living with George after 5 1/2 years together so that helps :-)

When it started getting late we got pizza.

Nick messing around.
We also got the flyers for the show in. There's a description of the show on the back that I'll post later once it's out. The title of the collection is "Wie eine Hinde (What the man who the collection is about apparently got told about his prancing around Nazi soldiers) " which I've been told means something like "like a deer." This is why the shoes are doubly awesome. Make it triple.

The Crew.

Alright so today things are finally getting better. Hopefully it stays that way and I can just be okay with missing the show friday. I'm just going to have an EXTRA awesome time with my aunt and uncle. I mean, come on, who gets to spend one-on-one time with their aunt and uncle at a freakin' castle?!? The irony, since my uncle so graciously provided the deer legs for the shoes, him and my aunt are invited to the show friday. I told Edwin they couldn't come because THEY are the aunt and uncle I'm going to Neuschwanstein castle with. Basically, he has horrible timing. But if you've been reading, you already knew that.

So I decided to post some pictures of us interns messing around so you can get to know the crew.

Ka Ho, Gerbrechje and I after we all had a shitty day yesterday.

Elise hates pictures and she may kill me for this but I couldn't leave her out.
It wouldn't be right.
Nick and Edwin's dad fixing up the mannequins for the exhibit starting Saturday.
Linett and Ka Ho.
At work, Ger and I have been working on the dresses for Zazi, the 3 girl band that's playing at the show. They're pretty simple but I really like them. I can't wait to see them on and have pictures of it for my portfolio!

There's a moth living in the ceiling in my room and it only comes out once in a while. My grandparents and I haven't been able to catch it and it's freakin' me out. I thought you should know.

Also, I really like this song I heard last week when I went out with my cousins. It's super cheesy but you can't help but smile. If not for the upbeat-ness of the song, then for the amazingly clever video (that was sarcasm). But I love it. Jan Smit. Yes.

Just another day.

Happy monday. Independence Day is May 5th here so no barbecues on this end.

Work sucks now. I just get it rubbed in my face all day that I'm going to be missing the biggest/best event of this entire internship so I don't feel like doing anything.

This past weekend was Reuring in Purmerend, a free street festival that usually lasts about a week. We saw street performers and concert and it was really fun.

There was also a man doing super weird and awesome hair. He chooses people from the audience and some years past I stood there for well over an hour but he never picked me (I know, I'm so sad) but this year I was wearing orange lipstick and I got his attention. Thank you orange!

These are some girls before me:

And...

Yes.

That lady thought/knew I was crazy.

Lange Frans. Grote Sukkel.

Also, I forgot to tell you but last week Mada Van Gaans borrowed my I Love Holland bag when she borrowed lights form Edwin. She's another fashion Designer I interviewed with last summer.

Mada van Gaans
Also, an actrice from the Dutch police show Baantjer was there to borrow a dress for a photo shoot. I barely know any famous Dutch people but Gerbrechje did she she recognized her form tv. It would have been more exciting (or exciting at all) had I known but anyway, this is her.

Ugh.

Okay, so Wednesday I also hung out with Rayme. We had breakfast with a friend of hers form the tour and after work Rayme and I had pancakes. Dutch style. They're dinner pancakes and they're awesome. If you get apple in it like me it's really healthy so you don't have to worry about carbs (I hope you caught the sarcasm). We walked around a bit and waited with Rayme and some of the people from the tour group in line for Casa Rosso (Google it). I went home but Rayme said it was tastefully done. So if you're ever in Amsterdam...

Condomerie. The type of shop is in the name. It's what you think.

The Warmoerstraat. Full of fun shops and cafes.
Other than that, I had a shitty week and a shittier day today when Edwin told us there was no reason to show in Paris when all his resources are in Amsterdam and a location is so difficult to find. He is still doing to exhibit for Salon but instead of a small show in Paris, he is doing a big one in Amsterdam. Next friday at 8pm WHEN I AM ON A FREAKIN' PLANE TO SWITSERLAND. Worst. Timing. Ever. I schedule everything around the damn show and then it gets changed last minute and I get left out of the biggest and most important moment of my internship. Bullshit. However, I am still looking forward to Switserland because I get to be with my awesome aunt and uncle and go see Neuschwanstein Castle in South Germany with them. I know I'm going to have a great time with them and I refuse to let this spoil anything. I'll be in Basel while they're stressing out and cleaning up. Good riddance.
