World Press Photo 11.

This morning I went to World Press Photo 11, a photograph exhibit of award-winning photographs mostly used in the press and of tragic monumental events. This was the main one. I hope you're familiar with it because it's tragic and unbelievable and says a lot about the state of women's rights in Afghanistan. Yes dad, I know about these things.

She was 18 when her husband did this to her. He also cut off her ears.
Apparently she is currently in the US receiving psychological therapy and reconstructive surgery.

This is the church. Although I am not religious, I thought it was a great place to hold cultural events. Edwin has had a show there.

Gerbrechje intrigued by the photo.

After the exhibit we went to work and I continued working on the jacket. It's starting to look like a jacket now. The pattern is so complicated that it takes forever. There are many layers, a pocket that is also the collar, weird seams and beading. It'll be awesome when it's finished but it'll take a while.

My grandparents were supposed to get back today but their flight to Atlanta was delayed so they missed their layover. They'll be back in the morning but my cousins did bring Pien back. She's old and delusional so she's not easy to have in their place anymore. She's sweet though, she just barks a lot at nothing now and goes crazy and gets spastic for no reason. I think she's amusing. You can't help but love her.

Also, I can't wait to get my smartphone so I don't drop off the planet while I'm away from my computer. Imagine I actually get to communicate with my boyfriend more than once a day. I know, crazy talk.
